My Reading Wrap-Up {2023}

I can’t believe it’s the end of another year already! 2023 was another year that I did not participate in any reading challenges nor set a goal of reading a specific amount of books. I did have one goal of increasing the amount of fiction read and decreasing the amount of nonfiction read, which I easily achieved.

Quick Reading Stats

I completed a total of 67 books this year! A few books were started and not finished for various reasons, but they were very few. Maybe 3? I didn’t keep track…

I read 49 fiction titles, which includes novels I enjoyed in my own (mostly audiobooks), a number of middle grade books (pre-reading for girls) and read alouds with the kiddos.

I completed 4 book series: Miss Marple mysteries, The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, Enola Holmes mysteries, The Culper Ring Trilogy.

My favorite stand-alone novels were: The Harvester, A Gentleman in Moscow, The Reading List and David Copperfield.

Our favorite read aloud was Adventures with Waffles.

I completed 10 Non-Fiction book. The ones I found most helpful and/or interesting: Glucose Revolution, Move Your DNA, and Hunt, Gather, Parent.

I enjoyed 8 Biographies / Memoirs. My favorites were: Grandma Gatewood’s Walk, A War of Loves and The Plague & I.

I am amazed at how many books I was able to read this year! However, much of of it was due to listening to audio books when suffering from insomnia. I expect the amount of books I complete to be lower next year as I attempt to switch back to reading paper books and find ways to sleep better.

What were some of your favorite reads of 2023? I’d love for you to  share in a comment. Maybe I’ll add them to my TBR list for next year!

  1. You read so well last year, Jenni! I would love to know your thoughts on Hunt, Gather, Parent – especially from a Gospel perspective.

    1. Hi Sarah! Sorry for the delayed reply. I really enjoyed Hunt, Gather, Parent. My mindset when reading this book was more of one I would have while watching a documentary in order to learn about different cultures, rather than gaining prescriptive parenting advice. While I certainly had a few take-aways, I think my approach allowed me to sift through any unbiblical ideas that were present. I hope that makes sense and is helpful! 🙂
